The bride and groom first met as 5 year olds at Park Maitland School in Winter Park, FL. She was a dedicated student, he was a social butterfly. Not surprisingly, they weren't friends. He took steps to get her attention, even going so far as to pinch her while in the ocean on a school field trip. She retaliated by asking that he be expelled.

Fast forward to their college years: Winter break of their freshman year found them on the gritty dance floor of the Knight Library in Orlando. Olivia confessed her guilt at asking for his expulsion, and Malcolm responded that he had no recollection of the event in question. They went their separate ways, only to be brought back to the same city again before Olivia's move to Norway. Malcolm's courtship picked up some moderate speed, more often than not taking the form of shared videos of his culinary adventures. They continued to live their lives: Malcolm in Florida and Olivia in Norway. Unbeknownst to Malcolm, she wondered about him from time to time, even going so far as to show her Norwegian friends a picture of the hunter and his freshly harvested pheasant, adding that she suspected her life would "look like this" if she moved back. But months passed, and the sparse communication between them lapsed into silence.

In December of 2020, she was set to come back for a two week vacation. She intended to see her family and no one else, but Malcolm's cooking videos started up again. Since she'd always wondered, she took the bait, and their courtship began.

Olivia never moved back to Norway after her two week vacation.
