Their story began at a Christmas party in 2018. Jen had just moved to Orlando to work at the local hospital as a nurse, and Jonathan was diving deep into his career after graduating from Clemson University. After being introduced through mutual friends, the University of South Carolina Gamecock and the Clemson Tiger found it easy to spark conversations about their Alma Mater's football rivalry and their time spent in the Carolinas. Despite their college football team differences, Jen found it endearing to hear Jonathan talk about his love for the outdoors and what Florida life had to offer. The next thing she knew, Jonathan was introducing her to the Sunshine State's natural beaches, freshwater springs, and his true passion- fishing.
Jen and Jonathan were invited to join friends in the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas for a weekend of fishing and island fun. The day began with Jen testing out those shaky sea legs, but later she needed some time to recoup alone back on land before dinner. Naturally, she assumed Jonathan was still fishing, but unbeknownst to her, he was on the other side of the island, marking the perfect proposal spot in the sand. Later that afternoon, Jen and Jonathan set off to explore the island before dinner, but their golf cart had other plans and broke down. After a few minutes of persuasion, Jonathan got the golf cart to complete the mission and led Jen to Tahiti Beach where he dropped to one knee just in time for a stunning sunset backdrop. On cloud nine, the two spent the rest of their night enjoying their new engagement with a romantic dinner at the Abaco Inn and dancing with celebratory champagne in hand under the moonlight.
